She earned a Bachelor of Science in Physiology and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at University of Toronto before becoming a Registered Nurse in the CCCU at SickKids in 2011. She then earned a Master of Nursing degree from University of Toronto in 2016 and became a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in the CCCU. Currently, Azadeh is working through her Doctor of Philosophy in the Institute of Biomaterials and Biomedical Engineering at University of Toronto, with a focus in human factors and translational engineering.

At Laussen Labs, Azadeh is developing an online application that would facilitate the acute care management of pediatric patients with congenital heart disease who have been discharged from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). She applies her clinical expertise in data labelling and classification as well as designing and developing ways by which design and incorporation of new technology and decision support systems would be safe and seamless by design. Extending safety by design into the clinical areas is one of Azadeh’s research interests along with the establishment of a critical care nursing science program at SickKids. For fun, she enjoys kayaking and biking as well as taking the trips less travelled to.
